INTRODUCTION / CLIENT OVERVIEW

The Healthy Rican, founded by Mayra Colon in 2020 in Buffalo, NY, is a direct-to-consumer brand offering clean, Whole30-approved, MSG- and additive-free spices and seasonings designed for the Latin kitchen. After finding success through social media and their personal website, the brand faced a new challenge: scaling their reach to a broader national audience beyond the Latin community. With a small founding team, they needed expert guidance to set up their Amazon store, optimize listings, and launch effective advertising campaigns to expand their presence on Amazon.

THE CHALLENGE

The Healthy Rican's small founding team was already busy running the business and managing its social platforms and personal website. Learning the intricacies of the Amazon platform—such as navigating the brand registry process, mastering listing creation, and developing effective infographics—was time-consuming and overwhelming. Additionally, with budget concerns, they couldn't afford a large agency that charges thousands of dollars up front just to begin work. To expand their capacity and ensure a successful launch on Amazon, they needed to hire an experienced and trusted consultant who could provide personalized support at a cost-effective rate, allowing them to focus on their core business operations.

THE SOLUTION

After connecting with Mayra and setting up a reasonable monthly retainer, I got to work immediately. I collected all the necessary information to create the product listings and worked through the steps to register the brand on Amazon. I also helped set up the FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) system and remotely assisted with sending in the first shipment. Using existing images, I created product photos that met Amazon’s strict requirements, developed infographics, and designed A+ content—including a comparison chart showcasing her product offerings. I also crafted product bullet points based on extensive marketplace research and the client’s existing content. The first product launched in May 2022, quickly reaching the #1 spot in its category ahead of national brands.

THE RESULTS

Together, we created profitable offers that showcased The Healthy Rican’s products in diverse ways, appealing to a variety of customer needs. We launched a Subscribe & Save initiative, helping to guarantee recurring sales and build customer loyalty. Additionally, we set up highly effective sponsored ad campaigns that delivered 3x-5x return on ad spend. To maintain momentum, we regularly activated coupon codes and brand-specific offers to engage both new and potential customers. Through these efforts, the brand received numerous positive customer reviews, further boosting credibility and visibility on Amazon.
