CASE STUDY

THE CHALLENGE

A large government client in the healthcare sector needed to update their existing PowerPoint-based training and convert it into asynchronous, self-paced e-learning. The training focused on the process and regulations associated with treating patients in their homes using remote technology. This solution would serve thousands of healthcare providers and professionals across the organization.

This large project required working with a cross functional team of graphic designers, editors, voice-over artists, outside Articulate Storyline vendors, and content management to deliver the final product.

THE PROCESS

  1. Review of existing material

  2. Learning Objectives

  3. Course Outline

  4. Script

  5. Post-Test

  6. Storyboard

  7. User Testing

I began the project with a thorough review of the existing PowerPoint presentation to identify the learning objectives and develop a course outline. I worked closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who provided valuable guidance on the content and offered resources for new material. After iterating the process through client approvals, I wrote the script, which included design direction, slide text, and voice-over content. The content was carefully researched and written based on the resources provided by the client, then reviewed and moved to the storyboard stage.

At this point, the design team mocked up Storyline slides using PowerPoint, and I reviewed and updated the document in collaboration with the client. Once approved, I facilitated the voice-over recording and final design using Storyline, working with an external vendor. I then conducted a final review and audit before presenting the finished product to the client for approval. The last step involved publishing the course to the Blackboard LMS and conducting user testing to ensure everything worked as intended. I also managed the resolution of any technical issues that arose during this phase.

THE RESULT

The final delivered course was a self-paced e-learning program that included 90 minutes of content, complete with links to various business manuals, a post-test, and a supporting PDF that met 508c accessibility requirements. The course was successfully completed by thousands of learners across the organization, ensuring a wide-reaching impact and improved competency in treating patients using remote technology.

Due to the sensitive nature of this government project, which was completed under clearance, I am unable to share specific examples or materials.
